I was able to hit the ground running when I began a new degree at the Berklee college of Music in Boston. I played Pastorius’ “Opus Pocus” for initial audition and started with a significantly higher than average performance rating, allowing me to participate in advanced school ensembles, playing with highly skilled musicians. Jason had fixed or helped me avoid some bad playing habits that would have been detrimental to the pace of the bass instruction I am receiving now. My first private instructor at Berklee, renowned bassist Matthew Garrison, was thrilled to have a first-semester student with no deeply ingrained bad playing habits, which often lead to playing injuries.
Jason is largely responsible for my continued success as a bass player. I got as much as or more out of his class as I did in the many classes I took at the Indiana University Music school over four semesters combined. Jason was the only music teacher I had up to that point in my life that taught me how to put my knowledge of music theory to practical use.

Jason is the best bass instructor anybody could ask for. I am an old bass student (35) who had only been playing for a short time. I had moved from Nashville to Chicago and was looking to find a bass instructor. To make a long story short, I found his number and set a time for my lesson. From the first moment Jason was nothing  but professional. He has a way of teaching that made me feel very relaxed. He understood that I was going to make mistakes, and if there was something that I just could not get, he would slow things down until I finally got it.

He is patient, smart and gifted. The dude can play. I have see Jason play live a few times. I have even brought my wife to meet him. I learned so much from Jason. My love for the bass was there before him, but now my love is even deeper. If you are looking for a smart, gifted teacher then Jason is your man.

I have been playing a long-long time and it took Jason very little time to see where the holes were in my game! He went right to the core of my musical skills and set me right on track to where the work needs to be done to upgrade my playing.

Jason is very patient and centers lessons around the student. Not only does he want to teach you to play, but also for you to have a better understanding of your instrument. He conducts himself in a professional manner while making the student feel comfortable and relaxed. In a very short time it was easy to see my knowledge level increase. I highly recommend Jason to anyone who is considering taking lessons.

Jason is a very knowledgeable instructor and patient. The first thing he asked me was where "I" wanted to be as a musician, which I liked. I've been looking for a teacher like him for a while now and finally found it!

I was really scared about getting lessons but, Jason has made it fun and there is no doubt I am truly inspired to learn how to play.

He is an outstanding teacher. He really knows how to teach students. Some teachers just practice next to you, he actually teaches. Very helpful and just what I was looking for.

Jason has been the perfect music teacher for my son, Matt.  He considers what Matt's personal goals are for playing electric guitar and then helps Matt achieve his goals while learning important basics...

Jason is an excellent teacher.  Jason understands music and the bass very well and his teaching reflects that.  He has a deep understanding of the instrument that many teachers don't have.  Jason will teach you the right notes to play and will also teach you the right way to play them, leading to a more expressive style of playing and a more physically comfortable style of playing.  He is unique in that his teaching emphasizes proper form and efficiency, which enables the player to play for a long amount of time with little to no pain.  Not many other teachers emphasize these two points, which help make Jason a valuable teacher.  He is very patient with his teaching and his teaching style makes you feel comfortable and encourages you to learn the bass.  If you want to be the best bass player you can be, Jason will give you the tools and the direction you need to get there.
